Other than the inconsiderate RVer running his genny all night, we spent a pleasant night at the Fred Meyers making use of the free sani dump and fresh water before heading to Kenai. We stop at the wildlife viewing center, but once again there is not much to see. The tourist info center is filled with interesting collections of artifacts from the Denaina and Athabascan people, as well as the Russian settlers from when Alaska was owned by Russia.

A walking tour of the old town shows us cabins and log homes, as well as a Russian orthodox church and chapel from 1894 & 1907.

We get our laundry done and the RV cleaned up before heading back through the Kenai Peninsula, once again following the gorgeous green Kenai river. Since it’s Saturday and a sunny day, we see many people fishing from boats as well as casting from the river.

We once again boondock at the Whittier Highway turnoff.
