We had a great stop at the Grant Kors National Historic Site – a ranch dating back from the 1860’s. Fantastic displays and info, very informative we spent over 2hr here. Our tour guide was originally from Alberta and grew up on a ranch there (it is a small world we live in).

After that, we headed down to the ” Old Montana Prison” for a great self-guided tour- the prison was in use up until 1979. The cell block and “hole’ was reminiscent of Alcatraz. The $15 entrance fee also included admission to a wonderful auto museum with over 140 cars from 1885 to 1978.  We saw some beautiful and unique cars including the usual muscle cars GTO, Impala, Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, and Challenger.

After our long day of site seeing, we head out to a BLM site just off I90 past Butte. Beautiful countryside, lots of ATV trails, and a train going by transporting gravel, a nice spot to spend the night, and the best part is we have it all to ourselves.
