We leave Glacier National park and the smoke behind and head south. I’m sure one day we will return to see the park again without the fire/haze.

Next stop is National Bison Range when we arrived we decide to take the longer route (2 1/2 hrs) up the gravel mountain road (4,700′). We see pronghorn antelope, white-tailed deer, elk and a number of bison – very close up. The male can weigh 2,000 lbs. Well worth the detour.

We head off to Missoula in search of a place to stay, after exploring the riverfront looking for kayakers shooting the rapids, but don’t find any we once again stop at a Walmart for the night.
