Up early this morning to drop off our rental and catch our flight to Alice Springs. On arrival, our pilot had to go around once, due to the low cloud cover and rain. We grab provided umbrellas and hurry across the tarmac to avoid the water streaming off the overhead cover.

Alice Springs is much larger than I expected and very modern. While walking thru one of their parks we spotted a couple of small white and pink parrots sitting in a gum tree -very cool.  There are also lots of olive trees around, but who knew it could rain so hard? 

One thing we noticed here and in Cairns is the price of coffee is crazy – even at Mcd’s. Food in general is expensive – even bananas that they grow just down the road are double what we pay.

Tomorrow we start our tour of the Outback.
