Arrived in Cairns last night and after a packed shuttle ride and short walk we made it to our quaint hotel.

We unpacked and went right to bed, 12 hours later and it was time to check out the area. A block down the street we found a gas station that sold coffee for a buck and heard about all the things we should do from John the attendant. Like rent a “Tilly” to explore the waterways looking for salties (crocs). He told us not to pick up shells that look like waffle cones as the creature inside shoots poison spines.

We then continued our search for a supermarket to buy some supplies.  Chatted up the locals who like our accent, purchased our supplies and went back home for breakfast.

Now it’s off to town to check out Cairns and get fitted for diving tomorrow.
