Our next adventure is a visit to a small village for an overnight stay.  On the way we visit ancient ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk.

These are not Cambodian and look to be Hindu perhaps from the images.
The countryside is definitely poorer. The village of Sambor has 600 people who welcome us to their community. The children want to play volleyball and soccer with the visitors.

A walk through the village shows us their small wooden or thatched homes. Everyone seems to have a small stable if cattle or water buffalo, chickens, perhaps goats or pigs.

Lots of farming of rice and vegetables in surrounding fields. There are wells for water, but mostly generators for power only a few hours a day.
Dinner is delicious traditional Cambodian foods.

Early to bed as the power cuts off. We sleep on mats in a traditional wood house on stilts. It is hard on our Western bones,  but a wonderful experience.
