Welcome to Beijing, China. Today we visited Tienanmen Square. There is a long line-up of people to visit the tomb of Mao. The body is only on display in the morning as it must then be lowered down into a freezer to -35 degrees to preserve it. Apparently he is slowly decaying (probably a bad case of freezer burn). Tienanmen Square can hold a half million people and is huge. At the north gate is the entrance to the Forbidden City.
The Forbidden City was the home of the emperor and his wives. One emperor was only 3 years old, his mother sat behind a curtain to the back of the throne and made all the decisions.
The Temple of Heaven was used by the emperor as a place to pray and worship. This building was constructed of wood with no nails, screws, or glue.
