We awaken to more smokey skies and head off to Glacier, on arrival we have to pay the park fee ($30/7 day pass) then head off to the visitors center.  Where we find out that due to the smokey condition the shuttle is not running and most of the facilities are closed.  The biggest disappointment is that the “Going to the Sun Road” is closed due to the forest fires.

Even though we can’t do most of what we wanted to do here we decide to stay for one night instead of the 3 we had planned and finding a place to stay is easy, as we’ve only seen a couple of people here. We do see some chipmunks, a deer with two fawns and some pileated woodpeckers (huge black/white birds with bright red heads).

Will decide where to next in the morning.
