Last Day in Yellowstone
After a very cold night, we awaken to heavy frost but the snow is all gone, time to head back to Yellowstone for the last time this trip, we will be heading to Cody this evening. We head back to Grand Prismatic Spring, there is still lots of steam making it hard to get good pics but it’s not raining just a little crisp with a bit of wind.
For the next 5hrs, we visit Biscuit Basin with it’s beautiful blue Sapphire Pool and Upper Geyser Basin. We catch geyser action at Old Faithful, Daisy Geyser, Grotto Geyser and many other smaller eruptions. Old Faithful erupts every 90 minutes for 2-5 minutes shooting water into the sky as high as 100 feet, it’s incredible to watch and the viewing area is packed with tourists. The other geysers are located around a 3-mile boardwalk with Morning Glory Pool at the end of the walk, it is definitely worth it just to see it. While waiting for Daisy Geyser to erupt we see a large coyote skirting around behind the viewing area, it had been following a women and her child walking on a path to the geyser.
Another long but fulfilling day it’s time now to leave Yellowstone I know we will back again one day. On our way to Cody, we make a few stops along the way to check out some more geothermic pools and wildlife. We end the day at the Walmart in Cody tomorrow we will be visiting some museums in the area.
