Visiting Hanoi today. We see Ho Chi Minh’s body lying in state since his death in 1969.
He worked tirelessly for the people and wished simple cremation, so it was sad to see his body preserved and on display. We also see the museum. An older male American (of course) adopts our group and follows us along monopolizing our guide with questions. We give him the shake as we head to lunch.
On to visit the Hanoi prison (aka Hanoi Hilton) used for Vietnamese prisoners and to house American POWs. It is a dark and depressing place. The cells are tiny with concrete beds and leg shackles. Torture implements and even a guillotine are on display. There is much propaganda of the Vietnamese take on the war with the US. Most interesting to view.
