Kanazawa
We took the loop bus on our morning visit to Kenrokuen – one of Japan’s 3 most beautiful gardens. Pine trees, seas of moss, some cherry blossoms, koi ponds and a teahouse – just the way you would expect a Japanese garden to look. We also spot numerous couples having their wedding pictures taken in traditional costumes.
We next visit Kanazawa castle – only massive stone walls, huge gates and watchtowers remain on the large grounds.
Then it was on to the Oyama shrine on our way to visit the Nagamachi Samurai district where the middle and lower class Samurai Warriors lived. Lunch is okonomiyaki – an egg pancake with savory toppings.
After lunch it was free time so we decided to visit the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art – we do just the free stuff and glance into the paid areas before heading off to a street festival with all kinds of kids activities, artisans and cute food trucks. After strolling around admiring all the activities we caught the very crowded bus back to our hotel.
